Goodbye LJ, Hello Wordpress!
Apr. 12th, 2008 | 05:16 pm
HAY GUYS!
I have finally decided on migrating to Wordpress today. Mainly because I don't feel like I have much freedom in customizing LJ and that my tags are all messed up in this blog.
So I'm starting new in WP, but I'll still be in LJ to comment on any other post and to catch up with you guys.
Here's my new link: Fishystar and I'll see you there!
toodles!

Syazrin's spicy delicious elephant!
Mar. 30th, 2008 | 05:51 pm

On Saturday night after an outing at Cineleisure/Ikano/The Curve, Syaz and I headed over to a little restaurant called 'My Elephant' (after all the laughs and teases she has gotten from me) where they serve really delicious Thai food. The price was reasonable and the food, I must say, is just as good as you can get in Thailand. The place is located in a secluded area by Section 17 which is behind Phileo Damansara.

Mieng Kum, an appetizer consisting of chopped lime, onions, cili padi, ginger, peanuts, tiny dried prawns, cocunut and topped off with honey and lime and wrapped in a savory herb leaf. oh yum!

The Mieng Kum all ready to be chowed down.

2 glasses of Pandan Cooler. Basically water boiled with pandan and some sugar. Refreshing!

clockwise from top: Tom Ka (Chicken Tom Yam with santan), Pak Kana (Wok fried Kai Lan) and Gai Paprik (Ayam Paprik)
We were stuffed to the brim and happy with the awesome service. I would definitely come back for more!
Anyone up for Thai food?

to the all eating goat!
Mar. 26th, 2008 | 05:25 pm
So, I felt really good today and I decided to make a good gesture. I mentioned to Sharmy a few weeks back about a stand that sells awesome Yao Char Kuai here in USJ, and she mentioned about her favorite fried dough pastry with glutinous rice in the middle. So I decided to have lunch at the hawker center nearby and bought 2 for her. I wanted to surprise her so I drove over to her office and waited outside as I tried calling her handphone.
8 missed calls later (with the help of Nora)... no sign of her picking up.
With a heavy heart I drove back while munching on the pastry I bought for her.
:(
So, I dedicate this entry post to my all time favourite goat, Sharmila Devi. (about her misadventures anyway)
Sharmila Devi, the only girl among my 'ho's' to have her birthday the closest to mine (no point mentioning but...) and we had found out, about a few years back, that we've actually studied in the same primary school back in primary 1. Odd coincidence when we only started studying together again after nearly 11 years.
So anyway, Sharmy and I headed off to the Jobsdb Career fair in KLCC a few weeks back, and feeling nostalgic about what my old house and old school looks like now, I decided to give her a ride back home. It was a fun feeling and an extraordinary experience, but of course you wouldn't get that until you have the whole Sharmy incident first.
Being so confident with the roads to her place, she guided me into AMPANG, ALL AROUND AMPANG and OUT OF AMPANG, giving me her trademark 'uhh...' face and continuing with 'please don't kill me Craig' and 'I'm so sorry!' with her finger by her teeth. After nearly 45 minutes and almost running out of petrol, in the heavy downpour did we finally found the place, and to my surprise, was just a minute away from the Sungei Besi highway which I pass by all the time on my way back to Mentakab.
and she could still tell me that Ampang Point was just along one of the roads. (We passed by Ampang Point 45 minutes ago)
Oh well, I did have fun anyway, and I did promise her an entry about this incident, so here it is, savor every letter in it would you?
hehehehe.
Love ya Sharmy!

A Thousand Years of Dreams
Mar. 12th, 2008 | 12:19 pm
My 2nd play through with Lost Odyssey...
and it's freaking hard!
The first boss pussy-whipped me on my first try. I managed to survive on 2nd play through, but the enemies after that was just as hard as I was running out of mana (for spells) and healing items.
However, there's an extra feature in the game that I enjoyed. It's called A Thousand Years of Dreams, and it's a compilation of short stories revolving around the main protagonist, Kaim, as he recalls his memories. I've only manage to watch/read one story called Hanna's Departure. What's interesting about it is that you're reading a story, but with the aid of animated text. If you don't understand what I mean, have a look at it on youtube. I especially liked how the word 'tear' will slowly glide down the screen as it appears.
My only concern about it is that the stories doesn't really affect the main storyline, and sometimes could get a little lengthy, but I could always just collect them and read them once I finish the game, or just buy the compilation in a book.

Embarking on the Lost Odyssey
Mar. 11th, 2008 | 07:08 pm

After long awaiting and practically nothing left to play on the Xbox 360, I've finally got my paws on a copy of Lost Odyssey, the latest creation from Mistwalker. Headed by Hironobu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy fame, and a few other famous names, such as Nobuo Uematsu on music composing (which whom had worked with Sakaguchi on numerous Final Fantasy titles) and Takehiko Inoue, the mangaka for one of the top selling basketball manga, Slam Dunk, who heads the character design for the game.
So after spotting the game in the shop, I quickly inquired if the copy is in english (for the cover had chinese letters on it), which to my joy, is. "I'll have it!" with a gleeful smile on my face.
"It has 4 discs," the shopkeeper replied.
...
So, you control Kaim, the main protagonist, and you go around ramming into stuff and kicking trashcans to get cool loot. The End.
ok, i kid. But you do that alot though.
The game starts off with an epic battle between two countries, which to my opinion looks like a battle of tic tac toe, in which one army has an upper hand till the other brings out a new arsenal and vice-versa. The most memorable scene for me however is when the movie transitions into battle sequence just. like. that. Wow.
The battle sequence is fancy and has great action like camera movements which really awes me, however this can get tiring and somehow, it's just... slow. You gotta have lotsa patience if you wanna enjoy the game.
So far, my team consists of Seth Balmore, a female pirate and Jansen Friedh, the womanizer joker/magician of the story, I'm just so tired of his kind.
*sigh*
Voice acting, however, is pretty good and motion capture is just flawless. It's about time the Xbox 360 has an RPG game that can live up to Final Fantasy. (I'm totally ignoring Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata, mind you)
So far the game is pretty engaging and I can't wait to continue playing. So if you see me idle on MSN or Y!M, you'll know where I'll be.

My Bella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh...
Mar. 11th, 2008 | 12:08 am

Kudos to Adrian for taking this great picture.
That's Bella if you guys don't know it yet. She's gonna be 2 years old this year and Adrian calls me her mother goose, that's because she follows me everywhere I go... and especially excited when I go into my room.
Some fun facts about Bella:
Bella has a big yellow pillow in the TV room where she sleeps on, just drag it wherever you go and throw it on the floor, she'll automatically jump on it and lie there.
Bella is especially afraid of my Dad, and Dad just loves saying "Who's been biting the tissues?" just to get her scurrying underneath furniture.
Mum likes saying "Naughty Girl!", but I think Bella's used to it cause she just wags her tail and looks at mum.
She'll sometimes ignore you when you call her, but right at the moment you call out for Luki, she'll come running to you.
She can jump her height. (not to say she's tall anyway)
Bella sometimes do the itchy-butt drag on the grass, disgusting, but definitely makes everyone laugh.
Bella is a mixed Poodle/Maltese, making her 3x more energetic and excited than Luki when he was her age.
Bella loves biting... and it annoys me alot with it.
Bella loves sleeping on laps.
oh... how i miss her so much.

I voted!

I'm no longer a voting virgin!
Yup, I done my deed to the country today. I voted.
And I feel good, strangely enough and at the same time I bumped into my BM tuition teacher back when I was in secondary school here in Temerloh, apparently her daughter wants to get into the Advertising business and I couldn't help but to scare her a little. I feel naughty, but I was telling the truth.
On a different note, I've started playing some games on my handhelds;
Nintendo DS

PSP

watching the results of the votes right now, pretty nervous for some reason. :|

Guess what I had for lunch?

So I followed Brian to Sunway Pyramid this afternoon, and after following him up and down and through unfamiliar corridors, I finally found out we were having lunch at Carl's Jr.
I've been wanting to try the burgers out and thank lord I was famished at the time. I ordered the Chili Cheeseburger, in SMALL.

refillable soft drink (or any other drinks like coffee, tea, iced lemon tea or just plain water)

lies.

the cast of characters: Chili Cheeseburger, fries and Heinz sauce

OMG DROOL!

Brian's Chili Fries

You can still see some of the potato skin on the fries, proof that it's fresh from the potatoes

Heinz Tomato and Chili Sauce

half eaten Chili Cheeseburger
Man was I stuffed after all that.

Reminiscing that Disney magic
Mar. 6th, 2008 | 12:47 am
Prince Ali, fabulous he, Ali Ababwa...
such fun, great times that is.
After watching the 80th Academy Awards on streaming a moment ago, I fell in love with the songs from Enchanted, which then lead me to find the youtube videos of it... and in the end, linking me back to those amazing Disney music themes.
From the beautiful scene of Beauty and the Beast when they danced in the ballroom, to the majestic arrival of Simba, on Pride Rock from The Lion King, where has all the Disney magic gone to? I wouldn't argue about Enchanted though, it was a nice movie, but it didn't give me those awing moments like when the whole African choir group opens with the opening of The Lion King. The Disney movies back then was so simple yet they bring such joy when growing up.
Kids these days? man... they're full of those Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network trash, jumping from one corner of the house to the other, shouting death threats at each other. How times has changed, and I am truly grateful to be raised during the golden age of Disney magic.
so what exactly was your favourite Disney movie?

you know you are a game nerd when you start visualizing Dante and Virgil from Devil May Cry when you're reading about the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.

I finally bought my camera!

Nora sulked cause she was the furthers away
We (Puts, Erica, Syaz, Nora and I) attended a short talk session with Chef Michael Elfwing in Senses KL Hilton, which was organized by Le Cordon Bleu and IDP. The talk definitely got me thinking more about the F&B industry, lotsa sacrifices, but enjoyable none the less.

Nyam!
After the near 3 hour session with starving stomachs, we headed over to KFC in KL Sentral for dinner and finally caught up with our conversations, including one about Syaz's mum mistaken as her sister and a comment from Erica that was never meant to be heard.
*Shudders*
Yeah, so basically that was what happened yesterday, this entry sounds forced coz Nora demanded I update with pictures... so... yeah... sorry about that... :P
*hides from Nora*
